What we’ve been working on
We bring creative ideas to life, connecting artists, organisations, and communities through thoughtful, well-produced projects. Our work spans arts brokerage, community events, heritage initiatives, and strategic creative support. Each project reflects our belief that creativity has the power to build connection, celebrate place, and tell the stories that shape who we are.
From managing local arts programmes like Creative Henderson-Massey, Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Arts, and Creative Rodney, to producing Open Studios Waitākere for 10 years, and supporting heritage organisations like the Mackelvie Society and Your Stories, we collaborate across Aotearoa to make creativity visible, accessible, and celebrated.

Art Brokerage
We manage arts brokerage across Creative Henderson-Massey, Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Arts, and Creative Rodney, supporting artists and communities to bring their creative ideas to life. Each of these projects is in collaboration with the respective Auckland Council Local Boards.
Through these programmes, we facilitate funding rounds, mentor artists, and produce events that make local creativity visible and celebrated.

Siva Afi Festival
As part of our ongoing support for Pasifika arts, we’ve helped deliver the Siva Afi Festival for multiple years, working alongside Director Amo to deliver a world-class celebration of traditional and contemporary fire dance performance.
We manage all aspects of event production, marketing, and communications, as well as securing ongoing funding each year to ensure this important cultural event continues to thrive and grow.
Alongside the Festival event we work with Siva Afi Aotearoa to deliver workshops throughout Aotearoa.

Open Art Studios
Lightbox Projects produces a growing network of Open Studios events across Auckland in collaboration with Local Boards, creating opportunities for artists to showcase their work, connect with new audiences, and strengthen creative networks within their communities.
Now in its 10th year, Open Studios Waitākere has become a cornerstone of the west Auckland arts calendar, celebrating the region’s creativity and community spirit.
In 2025, the programme expanded to include Open Art Studios Upper Harbour, bringing together a new group of artists and makers from across the area.
2025 also marks the launch of Open Studios Kaipātiki, extending the initiative further in to the North Shore and providing a fresh platform for local artists to share their work.
Lightbox Projects manages all aspects of delivery, from artist coordination and event logistics to marketing, communications, and design. We oversee everything from print materials and digital campaigns to public programming and community engagement, ensuring each event runs seamlessly and reaches wide audiences.

Kāhui St David’s
Lightbox Projects has worked closely with Kāhui St David’s, a heritage-listed building in central Auckland now reimagined as a vibrant hub for arts, music, and community connection. Our work has supported Kāhui’s mission from the start with the public appeal to ‘Buy the Church’, right through to revitalising the space as a centre for cultural engagement through events, concerts, and creative programming.
We have contributed with fundraising, event management, and communications support. From developing strategic partnerships and producing the annual Strings Festival, annual Anzac events to supporting the integration of major artworks such as Sara Hughes’ Colour Quartet which has been instrumental in breathing this building in Central Auckland back to life.

Journey of Discovery
Working with the team at Art of Living Foundation of New Zealand to market their event for 2024, leading the Marketing and Communications Strategy for the event. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has inspired an unprecedented worldwide movement for a stress-free, violence-free society that has touched the lives of over 500 million people across 180 countries and has created a space to visit Aotearoa in October 2024.
The event was to cater to a large audience and garner interest in the Guru's visit with an event that appeals to a broad audience.
The standout part of this project was working with illustrator Anieszka Banks to create the look and feel for the Marketing.

Auckland Art Gallery Foundation
The Foundation is the Gallery’s philanthropic platform, dedicated to the growth and development of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. The Foundation appreciates the value of art and creative thinking, particularly its impact on society, and is committed to building a legacy for coming generations.
When the Foundation was established in 2005, its prime purpose was to support the capital campaign for the Gallery’s redevelopment. With significant contributions from both the Auckland Council and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, the necessary funds were raised, and the expanded and redeveloped Gallery opened in 2011 to wide national and international acclaim.
In 2014 the Foundation redefined its purpose as being the major avenue for generating support for the Gallery’s vision and establishing an endowment fund for its future.
The Foundation developed a new model of giving, which was purposed with fostering arts philanthropy. The wish was to embrace as wide a community of supporters as possible, so a number of levels of philanthropy were created. This direction for the Foundation launched on 19th May 2016 and worked to steadily grow the new Foundation Membership Programme through unique and memorable experiences, as well as engaging with artists and patrons.
